The founder and 100% shareholder of Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, a.s., (hereinafter referred to as “ZSSK CARGO“) is the Slovak Republic. Rights of the Government being its shareholder are executed by the Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications of the Slovak Republic (MDPT SR). 

The essential roles of ZSSK CARGO are transport and business activities on railroad, in particular services oriented to transport and carriage of goods in rail freight traffic. 

In addition to supplementary services related directly to execution of freight and combined transport, ZSSK CARGO provides services related to renting of the rolling stock, its maintenance and repair as its second key service product. 

From the business point of view, transport of goods remains crucial activity for the company. ZSSK CARGO provides full-value services on rail freight transport market in scope of inland and international freight transportation using the efficient management of transport services, acquisition process and efficient exploitation of mobile facilities. 

The principal product of ZSSK CARGO is transport of consignment wagons. Intermodal transport, automotive, siding services, services in Eastern Slovak Transshipment Yards (ESTY) and supporting services belong to product portfolio of the company too. 

The company has established Quality Managements System of delivering services and for selected products keeps hold of quality certificates granted in the sense of international standard STN EN ISO 9001:2001.
