The History

History of the company reaches 1968, when the Copper Mining and Smelting Industrial Complex's automotive trasportation base and automotive and train transportation base of the KGHM's Independent Department of Execution and Development were combined into Transportation Department. It was one of the support production line plants, and was meant to serve complex train and automotive transportation services. At the very beginning Transportation Department served transportation services exclusively to KGHM group companies as it was meant to do.

Primarily built automotive and train transportation departments were just the beginnings of today's company. Company's first gas station and central oil storehouse were built in the mid 70's. They were later joined into Liquid Fuels Department.

In 1991 the Copper Mining and Smelting Industrial Complex was converted into joint stock company, and named KGHM Polish Copper S.A. and Transportation Department became its transport Division. In 1997 Transport Division was excluded of the copper production line as Pol-Miedź Trans Spółka z o.o. company belonging to the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Financial Group.

While excluded of the copper production line, and transformed into an independent company, our company was allowed to take certain activites and to serve companies other than KGHM, on both internal and international markets.

Today Pol-Miedź Trans Sp. z o.o. company's services range from train and automotive transportation to oil products trade and repair services.

Activity - Scope of activity

Pol-Miedź Trans Spółka z o.o. located at Lubin, Poland, serves the following services: automotive transportation (passenger, goods, special purpose), railway transportation, oil products trade, vehicular machines, railway engines, carriages, and other machines and devices repairs.

Our Company owns touring buses which are comfortable and safe for our passengers and environment, We use them for both domestic and international passenger services. We also organise labour transportation for numerous firms, including KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Financial Group companies.

We own modern goods transportation stock, which is used for domestic and international trucking services.

We also act actively on the shipping market, while cooperating with many major shipping agents.

Our Company possesses special purpose equipment used for building and trasportation. To list just a few, our truck mounted cranes and low-loading semitrailers are at your service at any time.

We perform repair services of automotive and railway stock. We offer repair services of railway infrastructure, as we possess fully equipped railway and railway engines workshops.

We are licensed to offer railway transportation of goods. We are one of the biggest Polish railway transportation companies, using our own railway engines and carriages. Pol-Miedź Trans Spółka z o.o. is an experienced shipper and we use our own as well as Polish Railways' tracks.

Our company sells a full range of oil products. We offer not only wholesale and retail quantities of oils but also transportation of fuels, greasing oils, greases and maintainance liquids.
We are a local dealer of LOTOS S.A. Group products. We offer full assortment of oil products and our own laboratory assures the highest needed quality.

Development of company departments which are devoted to our core businesses allows Pol-Miedź Trans to keep competitive level of served services, and, more importantly, makes the company flexible and ready to react to individual needs of every client.

We were awarded the Quality System Certificate - PN-EN ISO 9001:2001 in 2005. We belive that our customers will find ISO certifcate a confirmation of the highest quality of services provided by our company.

Railway transportaton

The basic area of activity of Oddział Transportu Kolejowego in Lubin is connected with transport services performed for the companies from capital group KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

Within the scope of the received concessions and licenses, issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure, for performing of railway transport services we systematiically expand our cooperation with new contractors, guaranteeing the transport services on the highest level.
Branch of Railway Transport is in the leading group of the largest national railway carriers. Branch of Railway Transport consists of: 

- Department of Railway Operation in Lubin 

- Department of Railway Operation in Głogów 

- Department of Railway Operation in Legnica

At the moment Branch of Railway Transport transports 15 mln tonnes of goods a year on whole train set on different transport routes. It has 41 engines of the following types: 

- Ls800/SM42 - 19szt. 
- TEM-2/SM48 - 7szt. 
- TEM-2/SM48/M - 2szt. 
- TEM-2/SM48/15M - 2szt. 
- 411D/SM31 - 4szt. 
- T448p - 2szt. 
- M62/ST44 - 5szt

Moreover railway rolling stock includes about 900 railway cars of the following types: 409 V, 409 Va, 425 Sa, 434 R, 438 R, 408 R, 204 V, 24 Ve, 421 Vb, 24 VeCu/M, 24 VeCu/Ma, 401 Vc, 418 V, WAP, PT-WAP/M, F4, 408W- allocated to transport on PKP PLK S.A. railway tracks goods like electrolytic copper, Cu concentrate, sulfuric and waste acid, waste fulfite liquor, coke, quick coke, limestone, lime, diesel oil, basaltic aggregates.

Repair services

Repair Service Center is one of the Pol-Miedź Trans Sp. z o.o. Company's divisions, situated in Lubin, and belonging to the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group.

The division performs repair services of railway machines, as locomotives and carriages, as well as other machines - trucks, cars, and special purpose machinery, used by the companies and divisions of the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group. We also serve other companies, not related with KGHM. Wide scope of activities of the Repair Service Center concerns many technical problems. We own fully eqipped workshops adapted for both railway and automotive stock repairs. Every operation is conducted by well educated and experienced staff members. Long term experience makes our workers work efficiently as a part of a group of companies.

Scope of activities

Carriages: 

- carriage repairs,
- carriage modernisation,
- regeneration of carriage subassemblies,
- buying and selling carriages,
- repairs of the pressure vessels and railway tanks,
- tamping paths and junctions with PLASSER-Theuer UNIMAT-JUNIOR 275
- construction of paths for Milles and the KGHM Mines and different economic subjects

Automotive transportation

Our automotive transportation (internal and international) services and special equipment services include the following:

- universal goods transportation (including ADR), 

- outsize and overcharged cargo transportation 

- our services include the organisation of special clearances, transport organisation and pilotage service. 

- Transportation of fuels in the amount of up to 32 000 litres 

- Loose loads transportation. - Crane services, cranes up to 130 tons. 

- Shipping services. 

For international purposes we use mainly: 

-Man, Volvo truck-tractors, 

- universal overhung trailers by Zremb, Wielton, Fruehauf.

We keep constant cellphone contact with all trucks during transportation.

For domestic purposes we use:

We have our own repair and diagnostic background. We are also an organiser and the biggest contractor for labour transportation for departments of KGHM group, and other companies. We use touring buses with the capacity of 39 to 49 persons. Our buses are:

We always offer our partners favourable conditions. We are a member of IRU (International Road Transport Union). We also have a Domestic and International Shipper Insurance policy.

Oil products trade

We offer complex services for customers who need: consulting, selection of fuels supplies, oil service or collection of oil wastes. We are a local dealer of LOTOS S.A. Group products. We sell fuels, oils, greases, braking, cooling, and cleaning liquids for companies and individuals.

We offer: 

• wholesale and retail quantities of fuels, grease oils, greases and other liquids, 
• fuels and other oil products transportation 
• using our own tanks, 
• technical advisory based on long-term experience of our specialists, 
• purchasing and collecting of oil wastes, 
• barter transactions,

• laboratory services - oil products and exploitation fluids examination:
- exploitation and delivered fuels quality examination.

- cooperation at collecting and recording of the oil wastes.
