Movares Polska Sp. z o.o. is an independent consulting, engineering and research company specialised in the field of mobility and transport infrastructure.
Movares Polska was founded in 2003. After taken over the Railway Design Office BPK in Lublin and purchased majority share of the Design, Realization and Implementation Enterprise BPK in Katowice currently we manage about 130 engineers and specialists in all railway areas. Created regional structure (regional offices in Warsaw, Lublin, Katowice, Cracow and Kielce) enables to reach promptly to local customers’ needs and moreover better organization and tasks sharing during bigger design works.
In the field of designing for railway transport we are one of the biggest companies in Poland. Our priority in taken actions is to work on a balanced public transport system emphasizing technical, environmental, economical and social aspects in the context of approaching international competition. In our work we use not only experience of Polish engineers but also a wide experience of an initiator of Movares Polska establishment – Movares Nederland B.V. (former Holland Railconsult), a major Dutch company with many achievements in consulting works, introducing innovative solutions for transport infrastructure for the Administration units, transport organizations and other entities.

In the scope of design works Movares Polska offers professional services in all areas of railway infrastructure. The consolidation with the BPK in Lublin, taken over in 2005, enabled Movares Polska to participate in larger design works in the framework of the modernization of international transport corridors in Poland – railway lines E 20, E 30 and E 65.
The regional Office of Movares Polska in Lublin (former BPK Lublin) employs high qualified engineers. These tasks are at the core of its activities for already more than 50 years. Full spectrum of railway infrastructure expertise represented within the employment structure enables a structural approach towards complex railway projects.
Regarding the quality control, The regional Office in Lublin implemented the international norm ISO 9001. As the second railway design office in Poland, it received technical references issued by the Headquarters of the Polish Association of Engineers & Technicians of Transportation regarding the design and supervision of works in the transportation construction, excluding highways. Movares Polska is equipped with modern software and hardware enabling a professional approach towards the design and documents printing.
Key designers possess
all necessary state certificates. The regional Office in Lublin was awarded with
NATO certificate issued by Military Centre of Standardization, Quality and Codification.
Company's experts are working within specialized design teams. Regional Office in Lublin offers a wide spectrum of services, including:
• Geotechnical research of the ground
regarding railway lines, roads, civil structures, pipes, constructions. We also carry out research regarding the quality of the ground works as well as regarding the suitability of ground for the works.
• Railway lines and roads
Elaboration of technological and operational analyses, design of railway lines, nodes and multimodal points together with the elements of road construction – loading squares, roads, etc. Assessment of the technical state of the ground, surface and ground constructions.
• Civil structures
Elaboration of designs of new bridges, modernisation and renewal of existing bridges, tunnels for railway and road, both in new or operating conditions. We also carry out assessment of technical state and inventories of existing objects.
• Signalling
Design of signalling devices for stations, lines, level crossings for all recently used technologies on PKP network.
• Electrical traction
Design of new and redesign of existing electrical traction on stations and on lines as well as design of power supply lines and local control of switches.
• Architecture and constructions
Design of railway objects – stations, other technical buildings, general constructions, pomp stations, etc.

Movares Polska is awarded by
DEKRA certificate on designing and executing author’s supervision for railway, industrial and general construction and
ISO 9001:2000 certificate regarding quality management system in the area of railway and civil engineering design.

Advanced Technologies
Movares Polska Sp. z o.o. within Movares Group has access to advanced tools for
timetable optimization which together with
telematics applications for freight and passenger transport perceived as an attraction for customers.
Movares Nederland B.V. has wide experience in creating and introducing
interoperability standards, as well as
ERTMS implementation of its two components:
ETCS and GSM-R. Movares Nederland B.V. experts’ experience comes from various ERTMS implementation phases including standards and requirements elaboration, feasibility studies, deployment, commissioning, staff training and finally system certification with supervising the system in operation.
Polish experts who currently create Interoperability and Consulting Team have also wide experience and knowledge acquired inter alia in ERTMS implementation projects: ETCS level 2 pilot project of Swiss Federal Railways on the Olten-Lucerna line, NS Bey 21 project of Netherlands railways and also thanks to participating in ERTMS MoU Corridor groups, Euro-Interlocking Steering Committee, ETCS/ERTMS Regional Steering Committee within UIC, CER ERTMS Mirror Group and ERA ERTMS CCB.
Accredited testing laboratory for rail transport control equipment and systems
Movares Polska offers professional testing of rail transport control equipment and systems in its laboratory accredited by the Polish Accreditation Centre. The laboratory has modern testing equipment, including the climatic chamber, vibration test’s stands as well as specialized testing stand for the EMC tests.

The testing laboratory of Movares Polska started its activity in 2005 on the basis of the former laboratory of Bombardier Transportation in Katowice, established in 1954.
The mission of the laboratory is to carry out impartial and professional testing activities based on independency and high quality of offered services.
All testing activities are carried out in accordance with the valid European standards related with the rail transport control equipment and systems (EN 5012x) as well as with the European Rules of Conformity (ERC) for the assessment of railway products and equipment.
Many years of
experience of the employees of the laboratory guarantee a professional approach towards assessment of modern rail control equipment and systems, including the trackside infrastructure (point machines), as well as the computer controlled train management and control systems, modern electronic interlockings and line block.
In carrying out the assignments the testing laboratory of Movares Polska uses not only its own experience but
works together with the Notified Body RAILCERT from The Netherlands, a member of Movares Group. The laboratory also offers its services related to
ISA – independent safety assessment of the railway equipment and systems as well as the conformity assessment of the railway infrastructure and rolling stock with the conditions of the European technical interoperability standards (TSI) for local and foreign clients.
The accreditation of the laboratory covers:
• Technical investigation:
- quality of electrical isolation
- EMC immunity level
- durability and resistance in various climatic conditions
- force measurements, especially in point machines
- vibration and shock resistance
• Functional and safety tests of equipment and systems:
- interlockings
- automatic line block
- level crossing control
- remote control and traffic management
- train control
- train detection
- power supply of signalling installations
The functional and safety tests are carried out both in the laboratory and on-site.
High Speed lines
In 2007 the HSL South will connect The Netherlands to the European high speed rail network, linking Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Antwerp, Brussels and Paris. This is a complex infrastructure project in one of the most densely populated countries in the world and relies on close co-operation between government and private sector. Consultants and engineers from Movares are playing an important role in design, management and execution of this project.
The experience of Movares with the HSL South in the Netherlands is now used in other high-speed line projects in Portugal and France.
Wide spectrum of clients
Movares Polska carries out the services based on assignments mainly from PKP PLK S.A. and LHS. However the basis of clients is wider and includes among others designing companies, contractors, industrial companies operating railway branches, developers, local communities, petrochemical industry and power stations.
